Former DIG Nawaraj Silwal has joined the CPN-UML Friday amid a program organized at Kwality Banquet in Baneshowr. "UML will field Silwal, the resident of Lalitpur, as its candidate for the upcoming federal election,"Aryal, who was promoted to the post of inspector general after the Supreme Court quashed the government’s decision to promote DIG Jaya Bahadur Chand, has argued in his writ petition that he should also be considered for promotion.
Senior advocates Shambhu Thapa, Badri Bahadur Thapa and Advocate Tika Ram Bhattarai pleaded on behalf of Silwal. The government’s representatives have argued before a seven-member full bench of the Supreme Court that DIG Nawaraj Silwal doctored his performance evaluation report to claim promotion to the post of inspector general of Nepal Police.
