Narayan Gopal Guruwacharyain Nepali music. He is also known as “Tragedy King” owing to his numerous tragedy songs.His voice range allowed him to sing songs of every genre of Nepalese music. Often, his songs were orchestrated with the sitar, harmonium and flute. He was music director of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. He belongs to the first generation of Nepali singers who became professional singers. His songs have also been used in several movies and dramas across the country.
Narayan Gopal had only released 137 songs in his lifetime. He has gained massive amount of popularity for his songs. Gopal’s first songs was composed by his friend Prem Dhoj Pradhan and his teacher Manik Ratna. Gopal has sung songs for Nepalese films as well but for few films.
Gopal is one of the most celebrated and influential musicians of the 20th century. He has released many successful songs in many musical genre such as Folk,Modern and Pop.He has won many awards from Nepal due to high Nepalese audience.Once Narayan Gopal refused an award because of the condition that he had to sing on stage. That was the first award from a movie and he is Mitjyu (best friend) of Gopal Yonjan and Dibya Khaling.
