The autumn chill is deepening and while life in and around the City is slowly moving towards rest, the courtyards around Mangalbazaar, Patan begin to glow with thousands of people to watch the array of dances during the 10-day Kartik Naach. The courtyards were destroyed in the April 25 earthquake and wooden planks support old monuments and houses around, but the fervour for the festival has not been destroyed.
Kartik Naach (Kartik Dance) is an originally 27-day-long traditional dance and drama festival that takes place in the Hindu lunar calendar month of Kartik, which falls in October/November. This festival is performed on a public platform in front of the seventeenth-century Patan Palace, a World Heritage Site.

Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah was the King of Nepal. He reigned from 1 to 4 June 2001 whilst in a coma, having shot himself in the head after killing nine people including his parents and brothers in the Nepalese Royal Massacre, howver, it has not been proved yet. On 1 June 2001, it is said that Dipendra opened fire at a house on the grounds of the Narayanhiti Royal Palace, the residence of the Nepalese monarchy, at the time of royal massacre, the party was being held. At that time nine members of royal family were killed and after four days of massacre prince Dipendra who ha been crowned as King for very shot time too died.

District youth leaders from Saptari have begun a fast-unto-death from Tuesday to their dissatisfaction over party’s decision to share seats for upcoming House of Representatives election. CPN-UML’s District party members Durga Nand Thakur, Akhilesh Jha, Salim Ryan Miyan and ANNFSU district chair Lalit Rajak began the hunger strike. They argued that it was wrong for the party, who holds a good ground in the district, to share seats with the Maoist centre under the Left alliance. The local leaders are staging the hunger strike at the UML district office premises. They have demanded that the district's recommendation to nominate central member Suman Raj Pyakurel from constituency no. 1 should stand. The party leadership has provided ticket to Ashok Kumar Mandal (Amar) of MC, for the constituency. Mandal was elected to the second Constituent Assembly from erstwhile constituency no. 2 of the district. RSS
